Sr. Systems Analyst

Job Description

The Senior Systems Analyst independently serves as the project link between the business units served by development and the PT development teams on complex projects.  At the Senior Systems Analyst level, incumbents are responsible for overseeing entire projects or multiple projects.  Project areas include new development efforts; system changes impacting multiple systems, application or components; and design- or best practice-oriented projects.  In addition to the duties of the Systems Analyst, the Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for technical project management: planning, reporting and timely completion of projects.  The incumbent must be able to work with the pressure of strict deadlines and short turnaround times.

 

Functions of the Department

Production Technologies provides application development and support, and project and data resource management for a wide spectrum of Countrywide clients with primary focus on loan origination systems.  The department’s applications are critical to the ability of the company to do business on a day-to-day basis.  Applications developed by Production Technologies have critical impact on the number of loans funded, compliance with state and federal regulations, and the overall ability of the company to maintain/improve its position in the marketplace.

 

There are Systems Analysis teams in all of the Production Technologies development groups.  These teams work with both the business units and the development teams to ensure that business needs are achieved in system changes, enhancements, fixes and new development efforts.  The Systems Analysis departments function to translate business requirements into technical solutions that are implemented by development groups.

 

The incumbent must be able to combine business and technical knowledge in order to be successful.  Since the Company has multiple business units and utilizes multiple proprietary software applications, the acquisition of this knowledge takes time and requires a lengthy learning curve.  In addition, analysis must include not only the impact Production Technologies applications, but also those throughout the Company. 

 

The incumbent also aces difficult logistics in completing assignments; often, the parties involved are in different departments and in different states with different time zones.  Gathering everyone together and facilitating procedures across multiple departments and divisions can be a difficult task.  The incumbent must be able to consider a multitude of issues, both business and technical, when analyzing system issues.  Incumbent must work under the stress of very short turnaround times.

 

The Senior Systems Analyst is expected to independently complete assignments.  Must be able to implement new and creative solutions to problems within existing systems and according to divisional business needs; must be able to promote best practices across multiple development organizations.  Works under the direction of the MGR, Systems Analysis and has access to this position for advice and guidance. Must utilize IT methodology, standards and procedures.

 

Job Responsibility

Includes, but not limited to:

 

  • Researches technical solutions for complex system issues, changes and enhancements (field additions, workflow fit, etc.).  Determines research method best suited to task.

  • Develops alternative solutions for assigned projects and makes determination on final solution.  Brainstorms with developers to determine what questions to ask of user community so that business needs are clear and to determine what alternatives are feasible.  Determines pros and cons of the various alternatives. Ensures that needs of multiple business units, business flow and system flow have all been considered in alternatives.  May need to develop different alternatives for different business units.

  • Communicates, verbally and in writing, with a variety of areas (developers, users, help desk, management, other system groups: AI, Landsafe, PT, Secondary Marketing, etc.) for the purpose of gathering information, determining problem sources, analyzing resolution options and finding technical solutions.

  • Acts as technical project manager for complex projects.  Defines project requirements, plans efforts, determines milestones, defines interdependencies, provides management reporting, and resolves issues.  Is often responsible for multiple projects at one time.  Ensures that projects remain on track and are completed on schedule

  • Writes PCR’s (technical specifications) for fixes, changes and enhancements once preferred solution has been identified. Ensures that specification details are clear and concise so that programming can be completed with minimal changes. Provides pseudo code (recommended logic) for simple to highly complex PCR’s.  The Senior Systems Analyst is expected to define ancillary systems/pieces affected by proposed changes (UI, backend, interface, task manager, etc.) and have a good knowledge of the system architecture so that that there is no adverse impact.  Supports the PCR from creation to implementation ensuring that project/task has been completed successfully.

  • Conducts and attends meetings with business units, developers and senior management to determine project scope, business requirements, etc.  Conducts PCR walk-throughs with divisions in order to obtain approval prior to PCR implementation.

  • Architects business-related workflow for PCR in order to ensure that it can be implemented and incorporated with the new system.

  • Writes test scenarios for Quality Assurance Analysts.  May perform testing for results in order to determine if desired results have been achieved by programming changes.

  • Acts as negotiator between development groups and user communities to resolve issues surrounding project.

  • Reviews work of, mentors, and cross-trains lower level analysts.

  • May do page/screen prototyping and/or design, primarily graphics or functionality, in order to present options to the client.

  • Promotes a positive work environment by respecting codes of professional behavior and the diversity of others.  Encourages staff to participate in activities that promote a positive work environment.

 

Required Skills:

 

  • BS in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems or equivalent degree/experience.
  • 5+ years systems analysis experience in mortgage banking, accounting or related financial services field with demonstrated skill in project management, system design and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Working knowledge of several development languages (HTML, language (VB, C++, VB Script, Java Script, Java, C#, XML, ASP, etc)
  • Knowledge of UML.
  • Experience in creating use cases
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing systems analysis tools including Visual Dev, Visio, etc.
  • Analytical skills sufficient to research programming issues, determine viable solutions, and assess the pros and cons of various alternatives.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to direct projects with strict deadlines from inception to completion.
  • Leadership skills sufficient to meld divergent groups into one team.
  • Ability to define tasks and deadlines using own initiative.
  • Creative thinking sufficient to find solutions when solutions may not be easily defined.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in completing assignments.
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to provide technical reporting to both highly technical and business-minded professionals.
  • Negotiation skills sufficient to persuade others, bring about conclusion when opposing paths are desired,  and resolve issues in team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to elicit information when requirements are unclear or insufficient.

Sr. QA Analyst

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position.

Candidate should be able to assess technical requirements and have the ability to create a solid test plan, Good communication skills are essential and ability to accurately pin-point problems found during testing (to assist Development)

 

Candidate will perform functional testing, regression testing, automated testing, black box, white box testing. Candidate will be able to design, modify develop and write reusable test plans, test cases and test scripts for black box testing, white box testing is a plus.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • At least 2 prior projects testing experience (min 3 yrs of hands-on testing experience) in Client Server/Web server applications.
  • Highly energetic and motivated for performance improvement.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.

The SFA database group supports 10 productions databases. Our largest application is our loan origination system, AdvantEdge, that consists of over 900 tables and 2200 stored procedures. Currently this application is over 500 G.

 

Database Platform: Microsoft SQL Sever 2000

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years DBA  experience
  • Extensive knowledge of database management tool such as:  SQL (DDL, DML), stored procedure and database utilities  
  • Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI SQL (DDL and DML) is required.  Experience with CHL technologies is a PLUS
  • Work with minimal supervision and have strong problem solving skills  
  • Must have experience working  and tuning  large databases over distributed platforms
  • Should be able to read and review the code, and understand their interaction and behavior.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments of a complex nature effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner.

Job Description

Work will include, but not be limited to, setup of personal computers and related equipment, installing software and peripherals, configuring new personal computer systems, resolving end‑user problems related to the installation and configuration, upgrading printers, and connecting personal computers to the LA County Court’s network.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Consultant/technicians assigned to perform the services must have the following experience within the last three (3) years:

   

  1. One (1) year of experience installing, troubleshooting and resolving problems with Novell Netware versions 4.x and 5.x and Microsoft NT and associated network printers;

  1. One (1) year of experience installing, troubleshooting and resolving problems with Windows software operating systems including Windows XP, Windows NT and Windows 2000;

 

  1. One (1) year of experience troubleshooting and resolving problems with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Visio etc and GroupWise 5E and 6.x;

 

  1. One (1) year of experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting personal computers and peripherals such as laser jet printers, receipt printers and scanners;

 

  1. One (1) year of experience troubleshooting and resolving network connectivity problems with a thorough understanding of network protocols such as TCPIP and IPX;

    Job Qualifications

    1. Must be a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).

     

    2. Two years hands-on experience within the last three years in Networks, LAN, WAN, twisted pair wiring, Cisco switches and installation and administration of Microsoft 2000 and XP workstation and 2000 & 2003 server.

     

    3. One year Experience with Microsoft Exchange server.

     

    4. Two years experience within the last three years with Microsoft Outlook, Windows 2000 and Windows XP installations, configuration and troubleshooting.

     

    5. Two years experience with Network printer configurations and repairs.

     

    6. Two years experience with Windows Advance server 2000 and Windows 2000 & XP workstation installation and must be able to configure and connect PC workstations to Windows domain.

     

    7. Two years experience working in desktop troubleshooting and resolving problems with Novell network.
